SURVIVING COVID-19

Who would have thought this virus could change everyone’s lives overnight. In this situation, businesses were not prepared for this deviant disease. Some business were hit financially and had to be forced to shut down.

But we have to try find some positivity to console ourselves that some good came out with this disease. Below are some Pros

Working From Home

Employees could work from home which eliminated travel. With this employees could save money on travel and having to lunch outside. Employees were learning to work smart and not hard. Companies were using zoom meetings and work was transparent. Employees churned out more quality work.

Bonding Time

Due to isolation families was confined to their homes thus parents had more bonding time with children. Parents had to start cooking family meals. Children were not out loitering outside and they learn to play occupy themselves by playing indoor games. Children can have more conversations with their parents.

Home Schooling

Online learning was a new game for children. Teachers had to work on a face to face basis and children were given more attention. Children had to hand in their homework online so they had to complete their work by the due date.

Wedding Savings

All functions were reduced in numbers hence the insistence that every family from both sides of the wedding parties had to be invited. With reduced numbers, the couple could save and have a better start financially. The five-guest wedding will be a welcome new social phenomenon (and not just for the bride’s parents who usually have to foot the bill for the wedding party).

For every Pro there is definitely the cons as we learn from both sides of the coin.

Financial Strain for business

There is definitely a financial strain on businesses as they have to adjust to this new environment. There are bills to pay even though they had no business. Even though there were stimulus from the government it was still not enough. Flights and hospitality are hit the most. Traveling overseas for work had to be grounded. Air flights cancellation were not giving refunds but only coupons to travel in the future. It would have been a great help if they obtained refunds Hotel bookings were cancelled and had to give refunds.

Travel and Holidays

Due to the lock-down all planned holidays had to be cancelled. All those that saved for holidays and had planned their leave had been charged airport tax and will have refunds only after this amount was deducted.

Visiting Family

Due to isolation and movement restriction, families are not allowed to visit each other. Grandparents are deprived of having their grandchildren visit and some grandparents are deprived to visit or even hold their newborn grandchild. People were weary if any of the family or even friends were one of the carriers hence keeping their distance.

The profiteers

The ones that gained from all this pandemic crisis were the toilet roll manufacturers, the disinfectant manufacturers, the hand sanitiser manufacturers, the hand glove manufacturers, mask manufactures, advertisers that did video and billboard announcements, printing companies and IT companies that created apps.

So What Happens after the Covid 19

Employees will have a hard time going back to work. Children will return to school actually appreciating their freedom enjoying sports and spending time with school mates instead of being confined and having to be disciplined by parents. Parents will be relieved that children are back to school so they don’t need to entertain them. We will appreciate our own country instead of having to travel overseas. Learning to be grateful that we have overcome this disease. Also we can give each other smiles without the face mask. The earth will have purged out of the pollution.
